Black Locust Farm Cashmere Goats for Sale 2010
Cashmere Doelings For Sale 2010
Kidding is all done, and this was the year of the wattle (this cute, apparently useless, appendage hanging on each side of the neck)! We are cutting back on the herd, so only 11 kids this year - and 9 had wattles!
- NEBBIOLO
- managed to sire 2 sets of kids even though he supposedly was in a pen with does from New Hampshire. The fence was not that good, but fortunately he is a blue ribbon buck.
- URSULA
- our black, long haired, doe had 2 black
bucklings.
- LILLEMOR
- had all black twins, a buckling and a cute little girl.
- DUKE
- our Grand Champion buck (last year at Rhinebeck) managed to sire 2 sets of kids before leaving for Canada:
- NIMNH
- had a single, big , black doe with a little
star.
- ULRIKA
- our handsome, brown daughter of Zeus, had a set of twins,
both brown with black points, one of them a little girl.
- ZEUS
- our beloved Grand Champion, was robbed away by a
bear (we think) while defending his does at the farm he
visited. Before he left, he sired
-
BONNIE'S
- 2 bucklings, one brown and one black.
- CYP BIBBLES
- our silver, elegantly longhaired buck, bred
- SUGRECA
- our silver, high producing doe, and sired a set of silver
twins, one of them a little girl.
Ulrika's doeling was born later and cannot leave before September,
but the others would be ready to leave in July. The cost of each one
would be $250.
Black Locust Farm Cashmere Bucks For Sale or Lease 2010
We are proud to announce that at the 2009 ECA live competition
at the New York Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck (judge: Peter
Goth) our BLF Duke was champion buck and our WWF Rue (bred by Ann
Taylor in Massachusetts) was reserve champion. They have, however,
been sold -- Duke to Roving Winds Farm in Canada (Becky Bemus) and Rue
next door to Wendy Pieh and Peter Goth at Springtide Cashmere in
Bremen ME. We still have quite a few bucks left.
Most were born at the farm, herd code BLF. All have very good to
excellent fiber.
